Christmas Card Love

Have I mentioned that I LOVE Christmas Cards?  Oh man I do!  There is something so great about getting the mail in December … you never know how many cards might be sitting in there waiting for you!  On the days that there is just one … or even none it isn’t very much fun but then there are those other days when you need to count them!  Our biggest day was 9!  I am pretty sure that we are at the tail end since Christmas is a mere two days away but I still hold out a little hope.  :)

Is your card up there?  If it is then THANKS!  If it isn’t then … you are almost out of time my friend.  I am pretty proud of our cards on the wall.  Oh, there were letter too, but I don’t hang them up.  I grew up in a house that hung up cards on the wall … is that normal?  Mostly I see ”card baskets” but I like to see them throughout my day and remember the people who sent them or to see their smiling faces looking at me so on the wall they will stay … even if it isn’t normal.  Who is really striving for “normal” anyway!  :)

I love Christmas cards, too! We’ve not gotten many this year, though. (I only sent out a half-dozen or so myself.)

We haven’t found a nifty way to display cards here at Echowood. Our first apartment, in Indiana, had a louvered door on the utility closet, and we’d slip the cards in the slats for a perfect display. I miss that.

I agree with you—the big display is definitely better than the basket!

They look very nice! Kind of familiar looking.:) I don’t know why or when I started hanging them up, but I know it wasn’t a tradition at our house. I didn’t do a lot of things the ‘normal’ way, did I? If one of my siblings remembers what mom did with ours, I’d like to know. I’m clueless. I hope you get a few more still. I get a few a couple days after Christmas sometimes, and since I leave everything up ’til the feast of the Epiphany, I still get to enjoy even the late arrivals. I don’t know exactly why I do THAT either. Maybe because our tree isn’t real and I CAN.:)

I always taped ours on the wall, too, but in our house here I put them up on the fireplace mantle. I can’t remember what we did with cards at home, seems like I remember a stack of them, though. I think I remember a Christmas tree made out of an egg carton hanging on the wall…am I hallucinating?

We were late in getting ours out (there is a dorky/fun picture in there, so it took longer.) I guess it is more of a New’s Year’s card–yeah, that’s right, a New Year’s card!

I hang ours up around the door frame of the entryway to our front room. I think it looks so much nicer to hang them up rather than have them in a basket. This way everyone knows just how popular you really are. You have quite a few of them! Our door frame isn’t full yet, but soon, it will be overflowing. (Who am I kidding?)

By the way, that was me, logged in as my husband! Oops!

This is me (David) logged in as my wife. I could login as me, but this seemed more fun.

Our card is on the way!

I was a little late in getting the picture taken, so you can blame it on me.

Gifts are still on the dining room table however, and that you can put squarely on my shoulders as well. We like to spread Christmas out a little, and make sure our gifts have the full attention they deserve. ;)

I don’t remember the egg carton tree, Jeri. But it could have come along after I left home since you were only 5 or 6. So it MIGHT not be a hallucination! You’re pretty funny, David and Julie! I hope your gifts arrived, since dad sent them out quite awhile ago. HOWEVER, Jeri, yours is still here since I found it in his truck the other day. It will arrive eventually. Sorry about that. :(

So…is it something Tom wanted to keep for himself?? ha

NO! He has only read about 1 or 2 books in his whole life. :) But you still don’t know WHICH book….I know I gave it away, but I had already written you an email this morning and done that. HA

I used to be a “taper”. I switched to the basket and I have to say I miss my Christmas tree-shaped display of cards on my wall and may go back to it next year. Mary, your card won’t be able to represent the “star” at the top unless you send them out a few days earlier. I always start with the star. I know you care. haha

Jeri in the foggy recesses of my mind I, too, remember an egg carton Christmas tree. I bet that makes you feel so much more confident that it was a reality. I can’t remember where mom put her cards to display, but I do remember her cutting up the old ones to use for gift tags.

Mary…the reason your card won’t be the star is because your card arrives second every year, almost without fail! I always get a chuckle out of how predictable our first two card’s are.

Don’t ask why I put an apostrophe in cards. haha

Susan, I’ll have to mail yours out before Thanksgiving next year…if I remember that long!
