A day of rest.

This morning at Mass we were reminded about keeping holy the sabbath.   Thankfully we didn’t have to shrink in the pew because we really do our best to keep Sunday as a day of rest.  That is one of the things that I really appreciated about Loren when I met him, he takes that commandment like all of them seriously.  So no undue work happens on a Sunday around here.  We work hard enough in the week and since God said “don’t work”, we listen.  Animals are fed, but the weeds stay put, hay stays in the fields and even the busy house is a much calmer space with mostly leftovers to eat.  We don’t even shop on a Sunday unless it is an emergency.  We have had to get gas a few times in the last 3 years but even that we try not to do.  Loren feels that by not shopping he isn’t forcing someone to work on Sunday and I respect that.  It’s all about planning ahead and keeping Sunday for God, family, and rest.

Today we hit all three of them by starting our day at church which I am always so thankful for.  I love to gather with the community and celebrate Mass and learn a little more about our faith.  After Mass we headed home to put the final touches on a meal we had prepared mostly yesterday for family coming to visit.  It was a great meal and as always it was great to have my family around for the day.  Then we rested.  Naps were had by all.  Who doesn’t love a nap?  We also did some of this …

Baby watching is like the icing on “keeping holy the Sabbath”.  Have a great day everyone and may your week be blessed.

  1. I love that little dress. My daughter wore a lot of dresses with smocking on them and I think they are just so little girl precious.
