The “new” Mama hens started laying eggs a few weeks back. They are laying a lot of eggs. We most often get 10 eggs per day from 11 hens. This is more than we expected which is fantastic of course … can’t really have too many eggs. Well ok you can, like when I married the beloved Farmer Neal and moved into this farm-house where the refrigerator held 42 dozen eggs. It happened, for real … that was too many eggs, really too many. But 10 a day I can handle at this point. Plus, the kids love the whole putting away the eggs chore.
Famer Neal is really patient with them “helping” … much more patient than I am. I chose to put them away during naptime. I am a great Mom like that.
They couldn’t be happier during the process … taking turns getting to take one out of the egg bucket, then wiping it clean and placing it in the egg carton.
Happy and content little hands with fragile eggs.
Happy farm kids is a good thing.
